| Our
farming operation has always included cash crop and beef production. With
the move from Kansas to Iowa in 1971, though, more emphasis was placed on
developing the cow/calf operation. We began A.I.'ing our cows to Simmental
sires in 1973. Since then, we have continued to sell predominantly black
Simmental breeding stock using a continuous A.I. program. In 1999, Buck decided he would like to have a pair of ponies to drive as a team. He was informed to check with J.D. Orear Welsh Pony Farm, where he purchased a bred team and three fillies from their foundation herd. Since then, we have used imported stallions and well known bloodlines from the Orear herd. The first foal of Crilban Heula’s Flame is our present stallion, Mueller’s General, the last known colt of Farnley Kernel. We have become members of the Welsh Pony & Cob Society of America in order to properly learn more about the breed, since this latest endeavor also involves our daughters and their families. Our grandchildren are growing and we've decided to obtain some Section B breeding stock as they are more suitable for the older child to ride. Now we are in the position to sell some of these “pretty ponies.” We welcome any inquiries and visitors. In addition to raising Simmental cattle and Welsh ponies, Buck is also a sales representative for Genex Semen company in the Southwest Iowa and Northwest Missouri area. |
